Touring - Saddlebags

Looking for a large saddlebag for touring. My ideal bag is the carradice camper, but they're a bit difficult to find in the US. Any suggestions?

Order from SJS Cycles or Wiggle in the UK, it'll also be cheaper and many times somehow faster delivery than ordering from somewhere stateside. Or email Acorn Bags and get on their list to be notified when they have saddlebags in stock. Or buy something from Rivendell. Or get something from Zimbale, or Velo Orange. Really, there are lots of options, depending on how quickly you want to get your bag, and whether you definitely want a Carradice or are open to other similarly styled bags. I'd personally just order a Carradice from wiggle, as I've done too many times in the past.

I bought my Barley Bag straight from Carradice. Cheap shipping and great service.

You can order Carradice bags directly from Carradice. I have done it and it got here promptly.

City Bikes in Portland sold me both my Pendle and my Kendal panniers. Good prices, too, and they have no problem doing mail order.

I love the construction of my pendle but if you expect to take it off the bike frequently it sucks. Something just like that but easier to remove would be nice.

You can use the QR Bagman racks (http://www.carradice.co.uk/products/other/bagman) if you plan to remove it often.

I wish they made a camper version of this; it was a bit small for me. But, I really like the fast click buckles on this vs. the traditional buckle straps on the Camper.

I ordered mine from Wiggle. It took probably a month or so to get to me--most of that time was waiting for it to get in stock after I placed my order.

Rack and panniers? I like my Carradice Nelson Longflap, but it makes the bike quite top-heavy with even a 15lb load. If I were going to carry much more weight, I'd want it mounted lower on the frame...

It's all I need for flattish Central Ohio. This gives me a low gear of 27" (1:1, at 34 front and 34 rear), which is just barely adequate. Also, I use this same crank setup when I single speed my CC (the two rings allow me to switch gears manually), so keeping the crank like this makes swapping easy.
