Commuting - Specialized Sirrus Sport or Trek 7.3 fx

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I like both of these bikes and they seem to be pretty comparable and they are around the same price point I'm just not sure which one is better built

Both are good bikes I like the Trek FX line better. I think the Trek FX has better resale value or at least sells quicker around here which is a good thing. If they are the same price and you can't decide my vote is for the Trek because it looks like its a better value, but both bikes are good you will probably be happy with either one.

I only have experience with the 7.3 FX, and it is a great bike. I would ride them both and see which, if either, feels better.

If you're looking for a flat bar road bike, go for the Sirrus. It's sleek and nimble and quick. A very fun ride. I own a 2010 Sirrus Sport and love it. Perfect for backpack commuting.
If you want to go with a more traditional hybrid/commuter style bike, the FX is the better fit. It's less twitchy with a rack and paniers, and looks better with fenders than the Sirrus.

Nice looking bike! I believe Specialized has a full warranty on their frames as well if I am not mistaken
