I just downloaded it. Lets just say that it's extremely unlikely that Windows 8 will come anywhere near the seamless ease of use of OS Lion. Launch Pad makes starting applications much more easier. Going back to work and using Windows XP is going to hurt real bad

Yeah, I've been using it for the past hour and so far I really like it. I don't know how much I care for launchpad (just don't know if I'll use it much), but I do seem to like mission control and it seemed to make my fiancés MBA run faster since it has trim support now. I also kinda like the natural scolling (more like the iPod touch where you scroll the opp direction that you want to go) and how you go back and forward on web pages now (with only 2 finger, not 3 like the old way).

So it's worth getting? I have an iMac and Snow Leopard seemed to mess it up.
Installation was a breeze. Still getting used to the scrolling but I'm sure I'll grow to love it. launch pad, meh. I do like the new email.
Yes, $29 well spent.

You can go into the setting and change the scrolling pretty much back to the way it was if you don't like it. Hadn't even tried mail yet lol. Opening it now.
I don't know how much it will speed up your iMac. It did speed up my MBP, but not as much as my fiancés MBA. It was only so noticeable on the Air because the Air has SSD and not a regular HD and Trim is a feature that helps SSD's keep their speed over time (other wise they slow down noticeably). I don't know exactly what Trim does, but it helped her computer. If your iMac has an SSD then I would say it will make it noticeably faster, otherwise it will be faster, just not a whole lot faster.

Have you browsed the App store? That is another really cool feature. :)
Just updated, starting to like Mission Control, but my system is running really slow, I'm hoping I just need to restart or something. Normally I do a fresh install but this time I opted for the ease of installing over the top of Snow Leopard, maybe it was a mistake.
Either that or maybe it isn't getting along with my OCZ Vertex SSD. Hope it smoothes out.

Thats weird. It sped up both my MBP and my fiancés MBA. I have a 500gb HD and she has the standard SSD built into the MBA. Maybe you should try a restart and then see how it does. It is supposed to be more SSD friendly now that it has trim support, but I have heard of people having issues with the Vertex 3 in general on Macs. Is yours a Vertex 3 or a 2?
I installed it this evening and it feels liquid fast. MBP 2.66 w/8GB RAM/Hi-Res Display...
The only hiccup I had was that Parallels had to "repair" itself virtually through Windows to run in Coherence, and Launching Adobe CS5.5 apps for the first time required a Java download...everything else has been easy sailing and I dig the new features.
Still feel like the vertical scrolling is backwards (at least from Snow Leopard), I'm sure I will get used to it.

Probably a 1, I got it a couple years ago when they were much more expensive. It was really quite fast under Snow Leopard even without Trim...
It feels better this morning, we'll see.

I was waiting to see some reviews before I downloaded it. It looks like it's well worth the $29. Maybe that's why Apple's stock went over $390 yesterday. :)

I was thinking the same thing. I was in an Apple store yesterday to buy a TimeCapsule and their servers were running real slow because of all of the Lion downloads.
The new spell guesser bites, and bites hard. Just saying.
It's the same thing that the iPhone uses, just guesses what's close and doesn't let you choose what word you wanted.

I find that when I type as fast as I can on the iPhone without giving a thought about spelling, I get very few mistakes and type way faster than a physical phone keyboard. It's awesome!

Nicely done.
Of course, now you've given encouragement to Ceiling Cat.

Lion is nice, but the reverse mouse scrolling is annoying. My older iMac mouse can't edit the preferences so it's stuck in reverse mode.

I installed Lion this weekend... didn't think my crummy AT&T DSL would get it downloaded without hiccups but it downloaded and installed seamlessly. I did have to reinstall iTunes but no other hitches to report. Browsing seems snappier.
As to the comment that you can type faster on the virtual keyboard on an iPhone; I guess as a almost 50something that I really hate virtual keyboards. They're a lot slower and harder to use to me than the real thing. I make TONS of typing mistakes on the iPhone and auto correct often makes them worse. Virtual is going to have to get a lot better than it is now before I'll be dragged kicking and screaming into using a non physical keyboard for anything other than texting.

So the screenshots on Damn You Autocorrect (http://damnyouautocorrect.com/) (NSFW language) are going to get bigger, then?
You really did not need to post that URL... I will now be unproductive until at least Thursday.

powerful looking stuff!
The only glitch I had was with Time Machine.
I installed Lion on my machine to run it for a while before I install on all the other machines in the house, make sure everything works well.
Time Machine runs on 5 machines, one of which got upgraded. I could not make it work on that one machine after the Lion install.
Ended up deleting the Pref files and the Sparse.Bundle for the machine I installed Lion on, re-ran the back up and now everything is working for all of the 5 machines again.
