Professional Cycling For the Fans - If Contador wins

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
If he wins then this tour would have been a snooze-fest if it wasn't for all of those crashes. I'm rooting for Voeckler.

I dunno why I just don't want Voeckler to win... eh, at this point if there are no attacks today then its his for the taking, assuming he does TT himself out of it..

Got to give Voeckler props, the guy is going for it. Just led the pack over Agnel. And no Contador.

I can't see that Contador winning would make this a snooze-fest. It has been one of the most interesting tours for years, with all the favourites looking vulnerable and eight men still in contention with only four days to go.

Please don't take things out of context by quoting only half of my sentence. Thanks.

The other half didn't help your case. The crashes have not been the only interesting feature.

OK. I'll spell it out. The crashes put Contador in the hole, and if Contador wins even with being in the hole then it shows he is head and shoulder above the competition (hence the snooze-fest). The second point is that if it wasn't for the big crash, Voeckler would have lost the yellow jersey already.

Funnily enough, I've been watching the race. Just like I've watched the last thirty-five or so. None of what you have said is relevant to your claim that the race would have been boring, because we cannot know what would have happened. Besides, the unpredictable is always a factor. Almost predictably so.

Well it is boring to me if the the unpredictability has nothing to do with a rider's performance. I didn't think it was very exciting when Lance blowed away the competition but I'm glad it's entertaining for you. Again, it's just my opinion.

I didn't think there is anything cryptic about my post. It should be obvious for anyone who has been watching the race. It's also possible that my writting skills suck.

I argue that Lance made the tours EXTREMELY predictable, so I say that is wrong. Im just pulling your leg there, with a fact none-the-less.
At any rate, what nobody seems to be aware of is that Contador has already won a Grand Tour this year. Ill say it again, Contador has already won a Grand Tour this year, and Ill say it one last time; Contador has already won a Grand Tour this year.

Actually if it wasn't for the big crash Voekler wouldn't be in yellow.

Yes, and if he had not ridden the Giro, it would probably be quite a different race. If he was not fatigued from the Giro, he would probably not have been involved in so many crashes. Especially the first one.

I am not sure if you are being sarcastic, but Im assuming you are insinuating that he lost the Tour because of the crash early on and NOT that he just doesn't have the legs.
You seem to be under the impression that his "injuries" are preventing him from racing properly or something?
Is this what you are sarcastically insinuating? Im curious.

The crashes have not been the only interesting feature.
Those are what Versus have been promoting in their ads. "Carnage" is the highlighted word used lol.

I'm on the Voeckler to win wagon as well. I'm not particularly "anti-Contador" or anything, it's just REALLY nice to see a Tour for once that has some real character and "un-predictibility" to it. Plus, for a Frenchman to win the Tour is something that has not happened in a long time, and I think that's pretty darn cool. Voeckler has also seriously stepped up to the plate and has ridden like an animal to keep his jersey, and that deserves some serious respect.

^^^ This!
However, I do not like the attitude in Voeckler's camp since taking the yellow jersey, they've been acting like they expect to lose it very quickly. You have the yellow jersey...fight for it!

You are right in the fact that you have to fight to keep the yellow jersey...and rightly so. Although, IMHO, I'm not sure the attitude you refer to is all that bad. A true champion does not slap the face of a fellow competitor in arrogance. Courage is something best shown through action and humility....and sacrifice. I understand what your saying though. But, by admitting and knowing that they could lose the yellow at anytime makes them all the more present to the fact that they must be a cohesive team, yet they do not have the need to belittle other teams in order to build themselves up.
