Foo - The latest Rube'(TM) auto mechanic adventures

Don't think I posted these ones... well, the radiator blew up on my way to work. Car overheated and I didn't noticed because this car never does such a thing so I wasn't looking. But it overheated and (thanks God) it shutdown by itself b4 engine damage. But shortly after radiator went kaboom and lots of water vapor came out the hood.

Turns out the radiator had been repaired b4 by previous owner. Good repair imho, I had that car for 5 years already with no radiator trouble. Looks like it had crack and was sealed/repaired. When it blew up, it cracked in the same place and kinda spitted the previous sealant.

Anyways, I got a new one and replace it myself (fiance helped a lot, she changed a radiator b4).

And to make the car happy, I also did the oil & filter and put some refrigerant on the AC.

However, now it's making some funny noises I'm trying to track down. Seems to be the AC system (only happens with AC on, regardless of speed, even stopped). Sounds like it's breaking wing, but more like phew than a prrrrpt. Definitely *not* a waka waka puff wakka.

Try and use the refrigerent with some stop leak in it.Valve stems tight in both high and low ends?
The compressor will make that fart noise when low on refrigerent.

Did you put a new thermostat in when you changed the radiator?If no........:wtf:.....?

Never head of a radiator to "blow up"? Are you over-dramatising for our benefit?

Did you leave the Haynes Hyundai Accent repair manual at the last house you bailed out of?

Now that that's fixed you can get back to "tassel twirling for tips" from the guys at the Pink Flamingo Club in Miami.

When charging your A/C system it's important to purge the charging hose before completing the connection. Non condensable gases cause the head pressure to run higher than normal and reduce the efficiency of the system and, given too much, will cause the clutch to disengage on high pressure cutout.
