Framebuilders - Old steel frame conversion to ISP type

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Anybody knows if this is possible with an old but descent steel frame??
Anybody have done it?
Thanks.

Sure, it's possible, but it's way more effort then it's worth with nothing to gain. It's really hard to beat a standard seat post- and if the frame is already finished and functional it seems like a non-starter.
If you have your heart set on an ISP I would recommend starting from the ground up and really paying attention to how the forces act on the parts you hope to design.

Thanks eric :) I have a frame that might need a repair so I was thinking in the possibility. :)

You could paint your seat post the same color as the frame and get 99% of the benefit of the ISP with none of the hassles.
Sarcasm alert.
