This was taken either in the fall of '37 or spring of '38 when my dad (in the sidecar) was 9mo or 18mo. My grandmother would have been blind at this point (afflicted with a degenerative eye disorder) but still liked to bike with my grandad.

British sidecar?
That thought crossed my mind too. Would you want the side car to be on the smoother traffic side or on the more protected curb side of the tandem?
Safety issue of keeping it on the right important, but mounting it on the drive line side might have complicated attachment.
