So I have Shimano pedals like the ones pictured below, which take an unusual kind of toe clip.
212350
I like the pedals, since I would occasionally scrape a pedal with the typical toe clip pedals I had on the bike before this. I've also sawed and filed off the cleat ledge, since it was wearing a groove in my shoe and made the pedals harder to flip into.
Since one of my current toe clips is showing a few signs of wear, I'd like to have a replacement on hand. Once in a while, a pair shows up on e-bay, but people don't often know what size they have, and I definitely need at least large. A plastic toe clip that fits these pedals seems to be available now, and I have two concerns with it: Will it be durable, since it's plastic? Will it fit shoes with boxy toes? (Metal can be bent.)
Do any of you have experience with these, or even thoughts?
N.B.: I don't want to buy new pedals or switch to clipless.
