Fifty Plus (50+) - 52

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hello 50+ers. I'm right there with you. Not as fast or strong as I used to be, but I enjoy cycling as much as I ever did, probably moreso because I don't feel compelled to ride fast if I don't feel like it.
I got into cycling in the early 70s, during the bike boom. Still ride my vintage steel I had as a kid, a '72 Mercian. I don't do as many group rides as I used to, and most of my miles are now commuting by bike.
I look forward to learning from my fellow baby boomers here.
Welcome young man. :thumb:
Now, lets talk about N+1. :)

Better put me on your ignore list, because I predate the baby boomers by many years, as do others. :)
Anyway, welcome.

Most of my kids are baby boomers but not me:)

I'm very sorry about the baby boomer referrence. Pre-baby boom riders gave me my start in cycling central Ohio--Charlie Pace, Dick Sebodee, and JoAnn and Ashley Molk. Ashley and JoAnn, in particular, took me under their wings.
I'm also a big fan of Chuck Harris, who makes the best recycled material bike mirrors in the world.

No need to be sorry. The really important questions are:
1. Do you like pie, and if so, what flavor, and;
2. Have you had your colonoscopy?

1. Rhubarb, apple, butterscotch, sugar cream, and key lime
2. Yes, and probably due for another.

A person after my own heart. Welcome.

Not to sound judgemental, but there is a reason that you have to put 20lbs of sugar in a rhubarb pie!
:D
1. Rhubarb
That's disgusting, although my wife recently made a tasty rhubarb/strawberry pie (with fantastic crust) that's didn't taste like it had the despicable rhubarb in it.

Couple of things: I’m right there with you at 51, although my 70’s bike was a Schwinn Continental, how in the heck did you end up with a Mercian as your first bike? The other thing is, why do these threads always seem to end up as pie contests. I don’t like sweets, except for apple and cherry pies, and of course, peach cobbler.
