Hello all,

I just recieved my eggbeater S pedals and out of the box the right pedal has a loose body. That is, the inner clip that rotates around the axel moves feely from side to side about 1-2 mm, whereas the left pedal will only move this distance if pushed hard. Is this normal? If it's not broken it will certainly make for a very chattery pedal when unclipped.

Cheers. G.

Contact Crank Brothers and they will either send you a repair kit or they will replace the pedal. They are very generious with there warranties and will do what is needed to get the problem fixed

I noticed this about my new Cook Bros Eggbeaters as well. I chose to ignore it and until now haven't thought about it. Mine moves maybe 0.5-1.0mm and it rattles only slightly when clipped out. When I'm clipped in it feels great. This is on the right pedal - left one inner cage doesn't move at all.

Thanks for the help. I wrote to Crankbrothers, they replied very quickly. Apparently it is normal for the inner part of the clipping mechanism to move. They did offer to have the pedal rebuilt if i don't like the ride. I'll put it on the bike and see how it rides.

You won't notice it. The pedals are very clever in that they do not depend on spring tension to hold you in...
