Tandem Cycling - bomb proof MTB tandem tyre for dry surfaces...??

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I have problems with my Schwalbe Racing Ralph 2,25 EVO. They blow off the rim (ZTR Flow) after mounting them tubeless. I'm not the only one with this prob, Schwalbe knows about the RaRa blow off prob's.
Who has a good alternative ..?
I'm not looking for the lightest MTB tyre, just a stong bomb proof tyre with strong sidewalls.
Maxxis Ardent should be good i heard....( )
Anyone has good suggestions on this?
thx

Wow, on a MTB tandem? We don't ride tubeless because they take a lot of abuse, and the front gets pushed around much more than a single MTB. I wouldn't want it popping off at the worst moment. We are on a Ventana ElConquistador with Maxxis AdVantage 2.4 tires and around 40psi with no pinch flats so far.

I've had good luck with the Maxxis Ardent 2.4 (EXO) tubeless on the mtb tandem. We tried the Panaracer Rampage 2.35 front and rear, but the rear tire tore a sidewall and we went back to riding that with a tube. Front tubeless has been good the entire year (well over 1000 miles).
The Ardent only comes in the 2.4 29inch tire with the EXO. For our purpose, the 2.4 is too wide to fit with the seatstay, I have yet to find a good rear tire with the tougher sidewalls. Until I do, I'll be using tubes on the rear tire. It seems that we are pretty tough on the sidewalls on the rear of the tandem.
For what its worth, I do like the Panaracer 2.35, I just wish it had a tougher sidewall...
Good luck and let us know what you figure out. You may want to post up on mtbr.com as there is a larger mtb tandem audience.
