Bicycle Mechanics - IGH wiggling

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
My sturmey-archer 8-speed hub is wiggling. The hub shell doesn't seem to fit snugly on... well, I don't know what that part's called. Sort of a metal ring behind the locknut. Anyway, the wheel has some unsettling side-to-side motion going on. It's my first IGH, you have to give me a break. What can I do? Does something need tightening?
IGH hubs need to have the bearings adjusted the same as basic cup/cone hubs. On an IGH this is almost always done from the left, but refer to the manual before starting because the right side needs to be set to a correct position first (if the hub is new and untouched, this should be OK).
If the right side is set to spec, you adjust the left to remove all play. If you're new to this, read your hub's manual first, or find a tutorial on hub bearing adjustment.
If you're new to this, read your hub's manual first...
