who would you rather cheer for if you only had the two choices.


I've done my research (wiki) and I feel Contador has been screwed more so than Andy and deserves everything he's worked for. But I will leave it up to you to form your own decision.

I dunno. In the past I haven't much liked Alberto. His behaviour left me with the opinion that he's an arrogant, smug, jerk. Not to mention that it's highly likely he wasn't playing fair last year. That said, he really animated this year's race, and some of that arrogance was gone.

Andy has been the proverbial bridesmaid for 3 years now, and unless he improves his TT, descending, cornering, wet road, and positioning skills he's not going to be able to win.

Tough call. Right now though, I'm going with Andy.

Have to admit, I was cheering for Cadel through the entire race this year.

AC. I love the way he literally attacks certain annoying fans. He did it on his climb to Verbier in '09 as well as Alpe D'huez this month.

I'll cheer for Andy when he can place top 10-15 in a TDF ITT. That'll be around 2015.

However, I think Andy has a chance to finish first for once. Of course, he needs to work on what everyone says he needs to improve on.

I'll root for either depending on what he does. If it is down to those 2 next uyear I'll go with the one who actually attacks before the last 3 kms of the final climb.

If neither I'm afraid the Vrs. pimping brings out the contrarian ion my and AC will have my support.

To support Andy over Contador because Contador is an arrogant jerk is quite hilarious.
It's Andy who thinks stages shouldn't end with descents because he isn't good at it- and is stupid enough to rub it into organizers' faces even though the 2011 route should fit him like a glove. It's also Andy who expects everyone to wait for him when he has bad luck or makes a mistake- even though he himself doesn't wait in similar situations.
The same Andy calls Carlos Sastre an undeserving Tour winner and keeps disrespecting other rivals. During 2010 Tour he said Menchov, Sanchez and everyone else except Contador are no match for him (I guess he also thought so this year, funny how it worked for him). Then after the chain story he jumped on AC, seemingly forgave him, called him a great champion for gifting him Tourmalet- but later he decided he can't get over it and kept mentioning it in the interviews this year. Classy, huh? He also said after he lost this year that it's better than in 2010 because this year Cadel was simply better than him. Both this year and in 2010 he stressed the same thing- that he's getting better and better and others should be afraid.
Plus in the race he kept showing others to come to the front in the fashion that could make you think Evans is his domestique. And in the Vuelta last year he did quite an amazing job helping Frank and showing his respect to the team he was about to leave- hanging out at night and then blaming Riis for kicking him out is so professional and humble I think I became his fan right there.
Not to even mention, he only really cares about Ardennes and the Tour (although, when he's bad in the Ardennes he doesn't hesitate to say Gilbert is training for it and he's on his way to peak for the Tour), making no secret about the fact that other races don't deserve his attention and frequently using them as training rides. And to show even more respect to the organizers of those races, he says that riders like Cadel Evans make a mistake trying to win them while preparing for the Tour.
And he does all of this even though actually he hasn't won a stage race yet and has absolutely nothing to justify his arrogance.

Contador on the other hand, what has he said or done that made you think he's arrogant? Does he say mean things about his rivals? After Andy attacked on Galibier, he said chapeau. He was praising Nibali and Scarponi while smashing them by minutes in the Giro. When he visited Vuelta last year, he went to congratulate and encourage Igor Anton and told journalists he remembers how Anton outclimbed him in Vuelta a Castilla y Leon. When he was asked if he thinks Samu will help him this Tour, he said they're friends but they're riders of similar class and who knows if it will be Samu helping him or the other way.
Also he showed he can work for others when he helped Vino in Liege-Bastogne-Liege.
And he doesn't find excuses everytime he loses and doesn't whine about every little thing that doesn't go perfect for him.
Plus during this Tour his ex-domestique was a guest in Polish Eurosport studio and he said Contador is the kind of leader everyone likes to work for- always asking for help rather than demanding it, showing he's grateful. Riders who were at Saxo before him also keep saying he's a nice guy who takes time to talk to everyone on training rides and things like that. Or think about Tiralongo- if he was such a jerk, why would someone who's not his teammate anymore say he'll surely work for him if he has a chance?
Seriously, compared to Andy Schleck Contador is the personification of humbleness. Of course you can't be a total softy and win 6 GTs. And there're probably reasons to cheer on Andy instead of Contador (albeit they remain a mistery for me, I mean, reasons for rooting for Andy over anyone), but this isn't one of them.

i usually root for the underdog but since contador is a consistent attacker and animator in the races he enters, he gets my vote over andy who rarely does the same. hoping that andy's attack on the allos, izoard & galibier becomes a habit vs a once every 3 years kinda thing.

AC because I like his big brown eyes.

Contador is streets ahead of Andy as a GT rider. That makes Andy the underdog and I like underdogs but only if they're plucky and gutsy. Andy is neither.

I wouldn't cheer for either really.

I wish Albert(o) had been able to make more of a race of the tour than he was. I was pulling for him to make a comeback, so I guess I could have voted for him in the poll. I like Evans the best out of the two choices though

Alberto has won 6 grand tours.

AC is a doper who was caught, and so far has seen no punishment. How does that make him "screwed more and deserves everything he has worked for"? I'll pick AS based on that.You should have added a "Anyone not tested positive" in your poll, because there are others I would pick before Schleck.

Andy. Alberto is clearly the best of the two but maybe I like the underdog or at least the one who knows how to choose a Chef.
