Bicycle Mechanics - Campy-SRAM compatibility

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I am building a Bianchi Concept frame and I was wondering if I can mix campy brake-shifters with SRAM's road-cassett derailure?
Or , how about, using a SRAM twist shifter on a Spinchi bar. I wont be using the bike for racing, and couden't think of other way of using twist shifters on drop outs.
What do you think?

I think it depends. SRAM cassettes are spacing compatible with Shimano STI indexing and I know people have run 9sp Shimano cassettes with Campy ErgoPower indexing so by association, you should be able to run SRAM 9sp cassettes as well.

A long time ago, when STI and ErgoPower were first introduced and only offerred on the upper-end groups, I was a poverty-stricken college student who couldn't afford anything beyond a Specialized Allez Sport equipped with Shimano RX100. However, I didn't like downtube or barcon shifters so I asked the LBS to mount original GripShifts to the end of the drops. The installation was very clean and worked wonderfully. I'm not sure if you can do that with the current crop of SRAM twist-shifters though.

NO! Some sram stuff is Shimano compatible, but not campy.

He also asked about using campy shifters with sram RD and that doesn't fly.

That's because The Sram was shimano compatible. Some sram shifters/RD still are, as are their cassettes.
another bump but to say that campy and shimano/sram stuff will work together with the proper adapter: http://jtekengineering.com/shiftmate.htm
im using the shiftmate 1 and with crisp shifting with new chain and cogs ie no slop
