I will be ordering one of these within a week or so. The bike store was not sure what color the 2012 would be. I have seen black with red lettering online but they will also be offering 3 different choices. $3400 for a ti, $1500 for a regular and $1100 for a less expensive model-that's what the NLBS told me. They said it will arrive in the fall and I plan to not only ride it in snow but on the sandy trails in the state land around here. If anyone has any more info about the 2012 model let me know.

Also coming is the Surly Moonlander, which makes the Mukluk/Pugsley look like a toy. Not a whole lot of details or pricing info yet.

As a Pugsley owner, I gotta say, fat bikes make the winter a whole lot more fun! They do great on singletrack too.

The Moonlander's only an inch more width, right? That seems like a pretty small difference.

The rims alone will be over an inch wider, with .7" wider tires. Should make a good difference mounted up. There's a big difference between the GFS rims and the Large Marge rims, and that's only 15mm difference.

And it isn't possible to just put those rims and tires onto the current Mukluk or Pugsley frame?

The Clownshow rims with Big Fat Larry tires will not fit into a Pugsley or Mukluk properly. To do so you would have to remove a few gears from your cassette and replace them with spacers, and then only be able to use the two outer rings on the cranks.

This is also the reason why Surly has created the Mr.Whirly Offset Double to allow for proper clearance.
The Pugsley looks small sitting next to the Moonlander, if you can fathom that.
