does one exist? How is the ACS Main Drive? THat one appears to be around 10 bucks. IM looking for somthing for my SS steel road bike.
Ive used the shimano dx and havent had a problem but that one is 20 - 25 bucks and that is more than i want to spend right now.

Wait a few more days/week and get a $20-$25 freewheel. Spend less than 10 bucks and you might as well keep using the one you have. It will be well worth the extra $$ Cheap Freewheels are even worse than cheap cogs.

You can get Diamondback freewheels dirt cheap online ($6-7 plus shipping.) These are Dicta freewheels with a brown finish.
ACS have served me well on an SS mtb, which is saying something. Outlasted Shimano. Of course, I'm old and have some income and run a White now...

Cheap freewheels are like meeting chicks in a dive bar - every now and then you'll score one good enough to keep around a while but that majority of them are bad news.

i tried a dicta and acs and ended up returning both before i mounted them. it wasnt cheap, but i ended up going full tilt and and bought a white industries. in comparison, it is worth every penny.

Why?
they were garbage. stamped cogs, rough bearings, and out of round.

warning: even shimanos can get out of round. picked up a brand new 18t, and the stupid thing pulsates after...40 miles? ridiculous.

A good freewheel is important, just save some coins and you'll be on the right track.
