So, I hadn't ridden a bike since 1996, but my BFF (we've known each other since 2nd grade) has gotten into cycling and hearing her talk about it I really wanted to get into it, but I was worried about being able to pick it back up. During most of my life and in college, I rode horses and played polo for exercise, but after I graduated (and the economy tanked) being asaddle has been a distant dream.
Anyways, I've thought it was just ridiculous to drive the 3 miles to work, but Oregon Coast weather can be unpredictable and nasty, and plodding along in it for an hour is more than I can take sometimes. So, my boss gave me a bike that had been sitting in her garage for 10 years.

The LBS I took it to for a tune up (and to get fenders installed) said it's a 1987 Schwinn Tempo. I'm having a blast riding it! My friend came over recently and we went on a 10 mile ride around a local lake, so much fun! It's the same feeling of freedom that I was missing from my life when I had to stop riding horses! I'm already looking forward to when I can go for another long ride, and trying to pinch my pennies just a bit more so I can get another pair or two of bike shorts and ride every day...
Anyways, I've been devouring all the books about cycling I can, and I'm looking forward to learning from all the experienced people on here!
