Felt like a tropical rains stom in the IE yesterday with the heat.
At first I thought it would only last a few minutes. Had no idea it would last most of the morning.
Did anyone make it out ??? I made it as far as the gym for about an hour.
I planted grass on Friday in my backyard (perfect timing) The seedlings got a good soaking.

I did our Sunday club ride. Once the rain stopped it was humid.

I tried to ride to Ramona, but turned around at the crest on Highland Valley Road. It got up to 98 degrees and climbing in the humidity was murder. Drank 5 bottles of water in only ~50 miles. Had two bee encounters, but got them out of my hair & helmet both times. I guess they must be more active in the heat & humidity.
Even after 10 hours of sleep, I have flu symptoms this morning. Should have stayed on the coast where it was cool.

Had some free passes that were going to expire so I took the kids to Wild Rivers in Irvine instead of riding. It was actually quite a blast, and a round of Double-Doubles, fries, and shakes at the In-N-Out off Avery Prkwy on the way home made for a most triumphantly excellent day*.

With that many people running around only in swimsuits I saw a lot of hideous tatoos.

*sorry, I watched Bill and Teds Excellent Adventure the other night.

So I decided to get up early and ride... I was ready to ride at 6:30am but the rain started lightly so I decide to wait until 8am. Just as I left my front door, it started drizzling harder. Darn, had to wait again. I decided to do chores, eat lunch and then ride. Just as I started at at 1:30p it started to rain again! This time I just kept riding; it never got heavy - just light drops. What was weirder was the humid hot weather. Very Southern-states like and icky. I was drenched after my ride. I started out in a sleeveless tank and was glad... I saw folks out in long sleeve jackets - wow! That would have caused me heat stroke!

Nice thing about the late start and rain, the roads and trails were fairly quiet allowing me to ride hard when i wanted.

It was not 98 degree but the Coast was not cool. I rode down to Back Bay Newport Beach and it was streamy!

I was up in Big Bear camping at Heart Bar campgrounds. It was storming up there. Lightning and LOUD thunder. It started up there on Saturday about 12 with a real heavy rain. It calmed down around 2 and then started again at around 12 am. It was kind of scary but fun at the same time. My wife and I had a blast. No riding however.

84 down on the flat coast felt pretty delicious compared to 98 while climbing the 15+% grades on Highland Valley with just enough tailwind to make it feel like riding in a sauna. My forearms got sunburned because the streaming sweat was just too much for water-resistant sunscreen.

Woke up and heard thunderstorms which was weird considering it was hot the other day.

I was gonna do my Sunday ride but just went to the gym, got on to a stationary bike, and did leg presses.

Left at 8am on a ride to temecula we actually rode into the rain like morons, until it started dumping on us,took a detour back thru fallbrook, stopped for coffee, and it started pouring, once that stopped it was hot and nasty all the way back to vista.Still was able to get in 40 miles, but doing the 395 to the 76 descent with wet roads was terrible.
