Last week I just read that construction was supposed to start this fall on the next section to be paved on the Palatka Lake Butler Trail. Driving by the trail today I noticed that they had already started. They had some of the big equipment on site and in use.

This next section is going to be nice when they get it done. A lot of it will be shaded no matter what time of day you ride. Even in the mid day summer heat. Unless they go crazy and cut way to many trees down. Crossing my fingers they don't do that though. When they get this section done, It will make 14 miles of paved trail & another 6 miles of paved trail connected to Golds Head State Park.

I googled it - nice looking trail. I'm in the area sometimes I'll have to try it. I'm a big time fan of Corky Belle's!

Friend of mine worked there for a couple of years before they moved to the new location in East Palatka. Its not really that long yet, but you can get a nice ride in if you go up towards Golds Head State Park. Some nice hills going up that way too (nice for Florida anyway). Plus state road 100 is all newly paved from Palatka to Keystone Heights with a nice bike lane on the side.
