I finished my ride today a little short of my destination.

I forgot to bring my patch kit. Stupid, but I had some tubes in my bin. I dug through a clutter of bungies and tie down straps to find a 16" tube and a 26" tube, both Schrader. I needed a 700c Presta. Oops. I walked it home about a mile with 50 lbs of groceries picked up on the way home from work. I thought my dinner would be already cooked before I got home. Cheese fondue? But it was still chill from store AC.

After I got home, I was sorting out what needed to be in my bin and what should be removed and I saw a round black shape. If it was a snake, which it resembled, it woulda bit me. I guess it was hidden in plain view amongst black (among other colors) cords and straps while I was looking for a tube in a cardboard box.

I felt really stupid walking my bike home. I felt stupider when I realized I that walked with that spare tube onboard.

...

And that's why tubes should be red. Let's start a movement!!!!

I did a 45 minute walk a couple of weeks ago with over 50lbs of groceries on board, my walk started right after I snapped my bike's chain while starting up from a stop sign. My repair kit now includes a multi tool that is equipped with a chain breaker, and a spare quick link.
