Introductions - Hello from Baton Rouge

My names John and I live in Baton Rouge, LA. Got into riding about a month ago and I love it!!! I currently have a Dawes Lightning with downtube shifters. I bought the bike used on craigslist to see if I would enjoy biking before I spent a ton of money on something that could potentially end up collecting dust. But now that I see how much I enjoy it I'm ready to upgrade to something "nicer" I look forward to being an active member on here and learning as much as I possibly can.

I thought about upgrading what i have now and I may still do that just not familiar with all the workings yet lol

A few months ago I had no idea about bicycle mechanics at all.. now I can't really even dream what exactly I'd pay a shop to do for me that I can't do for myself.... and believe me a lot of info I found/questions asked and answered on this site is responsible for it. But I ride OLD entry level bikes mostly.
