Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - I need a new challenge.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm not getting tired of my conversion, but I want to build something that will be a total change of pace from what I have. I'm thinking about building a fixed cross bike. Make some frame suggestions.... The Kilo TT is already out of the question, don't want track geometry with this one.

with fat tires (32mm+) and mud clearance in mind, cross bikes generally run cantilever brakes. not having ever looked myself, i'd wager that there are very few bikes with track ends and canti bosses.
I'll take that wager.

This is exactly what you're looking for. Cheap. Good. Project bike.
I know a couple guys who ride that frame, and they all think they're just dandy.

Keep in mind that if you change your gearing often then cantis and trackends suck. If you really like stopping then I would recommend looking at mini-v's for a CX style bike. I have them on my Sycip SS CX and they rock.

Was that aimed at my post? Can you elaborate on what exactly you are trying to say?
I'll take that wager.

The gearing will stay the same.
Surly 1x1 if you want something pretty far off the mark from what youre riding now, but still in the ballpark. Or you could go for the cross check for something a little closer.
that's one...
Uhhh, no that was three including the two posted before your comment.
Up to five so far in this thread.
Surly makes three track ends / canti frames alone. IRO made the Rob Roy. Kona has one or two... Raleigh has another one... All City makes that Nature Boy...
How many does there need to be for me to win this wager, again? I think I'm pretty close to double digits, and that's just from manufacturers everyone has heard of.
Personally, I'd just go with the Fantom Cross and be done with it.
fine, fine. you win. send me an address and i'll send you some worn out conti sprinters. like this better?
i'd wager that there are not a lot of bikes with track ends and canti bosses.
especially if you rule out 26" wheels and everything over say $500 (based on the OP's Kilo comment).

I said nothing about price, I just do not want track geometry for this and Kilos do not have canti bosses.

There is also the All City Nature Boy.

right...(as i thought i made clear) i just assumed that the kilo reference indicated a general budget. i mean, you didn't say 'vintage laser'...not that it has track ends.

That phantom cross uno does look tempting.

I had one for a few months. Overall, fun bike but it was heavy.
