Hi All -
On day two of last week's 6-day Pittsburgh-to-DC tour I crashed at around 15mph. Luckily, the worst injury I received was some road rash to my knee, elbow and shoulder (through the jersey). Despite the spill, I'm happy to say that I completed the day's ride (60 miles) and the rest of the tour (350 miles).
The shoulder and elbow scrapes were relatively minor, and I just rinsed them with water and left them alone. The knee scrape was somewhat worse (3" x 3") - during the ride I applied Neosporin and nonstick gauze and wrapped it with tape (I also found that first aid tape doesn't stick well to skin in high humidity, but duct tape does!).
I'm home now, and my shoulder and elbow are healing nicely. The knee is coming along, but I'm unsure if the best thing to do is to keep it covered or to let it "air out". I'd be grateful for tips from other wounded warriors - thanks!
