i just picked up my first bike in a decade. a 2012 giant roam 1. picked it up at my LBS for around $600. i was wondering if i should get a new saddle because the stock one is a little stiff and it sorta leaves my area sore. or is this normal for someone who hasnt rode a bike in years?

If you have not ridden in many years, and just starting to ride again, your butt is probably going to be sore for a couple weeks to a month. Start your rides off short and gradually increase the distance and it will go away eventually, why, I have no idea. Keep riding regularly and if it still hurts in a month, then you might want to start looking at other saddles.

I would consider another seat as the roam seat is not one of my favorites by any means. For basic commuting it is hard and shaped wrong for me.

Congrats, just picked up a 2012 Jamis Coda Sport myself!! LOL, ya most OEM seats aren't the best, I'll be looking for different saddle myself but the stock seat wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. ENJOY! :D
