Finally getting a break from the hot weather this weekend so heading out on a 3-4 day tour. Plan on leaving Franklin, NC early Friday and heading out to Nantahala Lake area via the scenic Mtn Waters Byway. Will have to climb Wayah Crest on the way but other than that should be a nice downhill to the Lake. Plan heading to Tsali Saturday and spending the day exploring the area. Possibly ride down to Fontana Dam. Not sure where the third day will take me but probably towards Bryson City area. Head back to Franklin the following day via 28 along the Little Tennessee River. If anybody is aware of any primitive camping along the shores of Nantahala Lake that is bicycle accessable would love to hear from you.

You might check with Nantahala Outdoor Center. If they don't know of any camping, I think they have cabins or camping areas for hikers that you might be able to stay at.

(Eat at Relia's if it's open -- great food!)

You're looking to camp around Lake Fontana? Or are you talking about the Lake near Wayah bald? Either way if you're looking for remote camping spots there are a lot of places you can camp all over in that area.

Give NOC a call. Someone should be able to help you out, they've got lists of nearby camping areas and facilities as well as they can tell you more general info about the area 1.888.905.7238 (full disclosure I used to work there many years ago). But someone in the call center should be able to help you out and give you some better details than I can right off the top of my head.
