I rode 143 miles about a month ago. I posted about it here (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php/563549-K-street-traffic?p=12942013&viewfull=1#post12942013). I washed my clothes two days before my ride with a new soap and it was concentrated. It did not rinse out. I posted a picture of my bike at the laundromat in the setting sun, rode home and hung my clothes to dry.

This mile long roundtrip was the only shakedown ride I took before my tour. My bike wasn't set up perfect and I had some problems, but nothing serious. The next morning I put on a pair of soapy shorts and wore them until midnight. I met up with some friends for drinks after work in Northern Virginia. I didn't realize why my ass was raw. I told my friends I was planing to ride 150 miles the next day, but I didn't tell them my about my sore butt.

The next morning, I pulled on another pair of soapy shorts and proceeded to ride 143 miles, a bit short of my goal. There was chafing, something I'd never experienced before. The soap wore a couple of holes in my skin. They didn't bleed but pus came out and scabs formed.

A week later I hit my tailbone really hard on my saddle on a failed attempt to gain a curb. It was painful for three week and I didn't want to ride, but it feels much better now. In the meantime I hurt my knees and back riding out of the saddle (for obvious reason), but they are felling better now.

I want to do 150 and maybe a double century. I'm feeling better and my shorts are rinsed out.

That sounds amazingly uncomfortable! My hybrid hasn't taken me as far as I would like. I have been riding with a group lately and circumed to peer pressure to ride my road bike with them. I only use my hybrid these days for short rides during the week and there hasn't even been too many of those in the past 2 weeks.

I was going to ride the eat a peach century this weekend, probably only the metric route though and was thinking about doing it on the hybrid for no other reason then I miss it. I haven't done more then 30 miles on that bike though so I am a little hesitant. I have ridden longer rides on my roadie with no problem but I'm worried about taking the hybrid on such a long ride. Of course 67 miles seems paltry compared to 143 with soap in your pants :)

Peach ride sounds yummy. I'd do it if it was a little closer to home. Do the metric route on your hybrid, you'll do fine, I promise.

I just pick a route and go. I'm not as fast as I'd like to be, but I know I'll get to the end eventually if I keep the pedals turning!

You should consider the 50 State Ride in DC. It's about 63 miles, a pretty challenging course, hits every of the 50 Avenues named after the 50 States, through all parts of the city. A bit different from the typical organized ride out in the countryside. I did it last year.

That's an average of 0.2mph. How much faster is the road bike?

My hybrid has taken me about 1080mi in the past 15 weeks. I had to replace the chain at the 980mi mark. Not fun. Though it's been like 1030mi since I started counting my mileage.

I did a 40-something mile charity ride shortly after getting my hybrid.

Last night, my single speed hybrid took me 28 miles.

I've owned my bike for 4 months and have ridden ~2700km on it. Longest single day ride was 144km.

I'm new to hybrid's. Longest ride was last weekend at 19 miles. Going for 30+ this weekend with some friends on the Western Md Rail Trail.

Sorry to hear about your injury. Missing your K street photo posts, hoping you get back at it.

So far I have gotten up to 42 miles, this weekend will be 50. My bike is actually a mountain bike with slicks and 1x9 drivetrain.

The farthest I've ridden my hybrid was 65 miles.

I've also ridden in soapy shorts, but I fared a bit better than qmsdc15. I was out on a very hot, sweaty ride and I looked down and noticed white marks on my shorts near the front chamios seam. I thought at first it was salt from sweat, but then I noticed it was suds from leftover laundry soap.

After that I started using a bit less laundry soap when I wash my shorts and I check them before I hang them to dry. If the material feels soapy at all coming out of the washer, the shorts go back in for another rinse cycle.

Furthest on my multi-speed road hybrid was 107 miles through the Adirondacks, with a sniff under 4000 ft of hill climbing. It was supposed to be part of a 3 day, 300 mile long weekend but driving rain only allowed one day of riding.

Furthest on my single speed knobby tired Sirrus was 77 miles on the Erie Canal trail. Discovered how painful headwinds are on a single speed.

Headed for the ADK Ididaride this weekend, 75 miles of road with 3600 ft of climbing and am harboring plans to try it on the single speed. Thinking my eyes are bigger than my quads though.

I've never ridden in soapy shorts, but I did ride my hybrid naked.

Longest one day is a 100 miles. Total I am not sure I lost count kind of; I bought the bike in the early 90's and rode 10 to 20 miles a day. Then moved from one end of the state to the other and things just got in the way of riding. When I started back riding middle of July 2011 I started to keep track of miles and my sig line has the tracker in it so . . .

Between my Trek 7.5FX and Marin Muirwoods which I've had for about 6 months, I've probably rode 1500-1800 miles and most of it is for commuting. I have no idea what the actual number is. Every day for commuting I'm riding about 7 miles not including runs to the grocery store, bakery, or cafe on the way home. Add in some 5 to 15 mile rides on the weekends, though I've gone as far as 30 miles and the miles add up.

My Trek 7500 and I traveled many miles together with 100 miles being the longest single day distance, did countless 40, 60, and 80 mile days, and over 5 years of ownership figure I put at least 25,000 miles on the bike.

It was and is a very comfortable bike and my friend has the bike now and simply loves it.

As I´ve stated before, longest journey were 300 km (the Vätternrundan). Back then the hybrid still had straight bar with bullhorns. Since that I´ve completed three sportives, all three 150 km. The last two with drop bar this year. Since my hybrid does my commuting and all rides in bad weather this bike secure my biking lifestyle. As a matter of fact, without my hybrid there wouldnt be much biking...

Bought my hybrid in May (4 months ) and already 1910 miles just on this bike, with many rides around 100 miles, and longest one day trip just yesterday 109.1 miles.
Average speed for last few 100 miles trips was around 13 mph ( sidewalks, trails and very little streets )

Bought the hybrid in July of 2010 an have ridden it 2,632 miles. Haven't ridden it much since the purchase of the road bike in November (2,248 miles) but it still has a job to do and it does it well. Will most likely be taking it out tomorrow for a 20 or so mile ride with the wife.
