My Shimano SMAD15 1-3/8" front derailleur clamp seems to be too small for my Las Cruces oversized scandium frame. The specs say use a 34.9 mm front derailler clamp (=1/3/8"). Is there a trick to this? This clamp is as big as they come, so I am at a loss. Thanks for your help.

1. Double check your derailleur clamp size. Make sure that it is indeed 34.9 mm.
2. Measure your seat tube diameter. If you don't have a caliper, wrap a piece of paper around it, mark where it overlaps, measure, and divide by pi.
3. If, after comparing the two measurements, it still doesn't look like it's going to work, call Salsa and ask what they recommend.

Well, it does work. It took a helper to squeeze the clamp while I threaded the bolt. The clamp deforms to fit the seat tube. Thanks for your advice.
