The bike is a 16 inch schwinn starlet w/ banana seat. on the schwinn badge it has 1785 and on the side it says 5i01585.

The 4 digit number tells you when the bike was made. The first three are the day (178th day=June 27th). The last digit reprsents the year. Either 1985 or 1995 and since I don't believe they made a Starlet in '95, it would be 1985. Hope this helps.

i'm sure most of you know this, but www.oldschwinn.com has a pretty easy system to date almost any schwinn. that's how i figured out my suburban and varsity were both older than me.
