Hybrid Bicycles - Bike weight - Cannondale Quick 1, Trek 7.5fx

I have not been able to find any information regarding the weight of either the Cannondale Quick 1 or the Trek 7.5fx. Anyone know how these two compare weight wise?

Most bike company websites avoid publishing weights, so visiting the bike shop and checking out the bikes in person is the best way to determine which is lighter. With that being said, by just reviewing the specs on these two bikes, I would guess that the Cannondale would be a little bit lighter than the Trek, but not significantly. Both are aluminum frame with carbon forks. The 105 components on the Cannondale weigh less than the Sora/Deore combo on the Trek, but the triple crank on the Cannondale is going to weigh more than the compact double on the Trek. The wheelset on the Cannondale looks to be more of a racing (ie: lighter) setup than the Trek, with less (and bladed) spokes. My guess is if you are a newbie then you would find both bikes to be pretty lightweight and fast. Best thing to do is go test ride both and decide which one fits you better. Also note that the Cannondale is about $500 more than the Trek. Good luck.

I weighted personally 2007 Trek 7.5 WSD 17" - it was ~ 23.6-23.7 lbs.
IMHO - Quick is a little lighter.
It based on my Bad Boy estimate - with 105 chain, cassette, derailleur, 700x23 tires, Ritchey Pro controls etc it is about 23.5-23.8...
I would expect more (less in this case) from Quick

The 2012 trek 7.5 fx does not have a carbon fork. Which was very upsetting. I now am leaning more towards the cannondale quick 1 which is more expensive but defiantly worth the $

Or you would expect to have a carbon on disc version?

I was told at the lbs the disc version did not come with a carbon fork and the ride quality would be affected.

True, you can either get the disc brake 7.5 or the carbon fork 7.5.

But Quick 1 you are going to look at does not have disc brakes.
What is wrong with FX without disc brakes but with carbon fork in comparison to the similar Quick1?

Im looking for disc brakes for a commuter bike. I feel they are more reliable in bad weather conditions.

This is a good bike. But still does not have a carbon fork and it is not a competitor of FX family .
Trek has it's own line of suspension/disk commuter bikes - Dual Sport.

Yep, I think the Quick CX 1 is a fantastic bike as my bike basically is the same. However it's not a flatbar road bike-- it is much more comparable to the Trek/GF Montare. IMHO it is superior to the Montare, but since it costs more you would kind of expect that. Is it $200 better?...

I know it doesn't have a carbon fork but the headshock up front would soften the really bumpy potholes in parts of my commute. ColinL I checked out the montare and it looks good and is a lot cheaper than the CX 1. Thanks for the info.

I tried locating a Quick CX 1, but nobody had any in stock in my area that I could find. I was looking at that as an alternative to the Bad Boy until I settled on a 2011 Montare for quite a bit less.

Also, I found that the 09' Street 1 compared to the 10' 7.3 FX, & the 12' 8.3 DS (all small frames), the Street 1 was at 27.2 lbs I think. Compared to the FX at 25 lbs, where the DS was coming in at 32 lbs. This is off the top of my head. I wrote it up in one of my recent posts if someone wants the exact numbers I got.

I ride a 2008 Specialized Sirrus Pro and a 2009 Cannondale Quick 1. My brother just got a 2011 FX 7.6 this spring. The Sirrus and the Quick weigh virtually the same. The FX 7.6 is noticeably heavier. Sorry, I don't have specific numbers. The FX also rides much more like a mountain bike. The Sirrus and the Quick ride like road bikes. The Quick really is quick.

Don't have exact weights, but the Quick 1 is indeed pretty light for a hybrid.

Have you looked at the Trek/Gary Fisher Mendota, carbon fork, disc brakes, slightly better components than 7.5, and nice color scheme. I love mine.

By the way the Mendota 21 inch is 25 lbs.
