Yea, it's called Indiana. I've been to other states. But how many of them claim Ron Swanson? I'll tell you. One and it isn't Texas so feel free to mess with Texas.
I'm looking for a new bike. I've only rode bmx style bikes. I used to have a paper route when I was a kid. I had a few Dynos, a GT and a Redline. I stopped riding my BMX bike when I was probably 20 or so. I felt like everyone assumed I was a young man with too many DUIs and then I moved and I couldn't take my bike with me because I was too poor for a bike rack for my sweet Chevy Cavalier (that's sarcasm).
As a fat balding 30 year old, I'm in the market for a new bike. I want something I can ride to work when I've not had too many cold ones or if I don't hit the snooze button approximately 30 times between the time I schedule it and for the two hours I attempt to try and pretend that I'm not awake and can excusably call in to work and tell them "I didn't hear my alarm."
I have a few hipster friends and they all want me to get single speeds which I can later turn into fixed gears. I refuse to use the term fixie because I think it sound stupid. It reminds me of a word that grown men might use to sound cutesy at a comic book convention to describe some kind of anime character or series. You can't be THAT pressed for time to abbreviate fixed gear into "fixie" because let's face it... you're on the internet and that means you aren't pressed for time, you're EXCEEDING in time and you need something to do.
I'm thinking about buying a Trek Soho S that's been sitting at my local bike shop for the past 3 years. Sure, it's "new" but it has not come down in price and they aren't willing to haggle. I want it, though. It's a 17.5" frame. It's smooth flat black frame is calling me.
I think it would make an excellent commuter bike. It's more than what I want to spend, but I don't think I want to buy a 300 dollar bike and spend 800 dollars in parts to make it look cool or stupid or ironic. Or a combination of all three.
I'm open to recommendations as I'm so poor, it's hard for me to justify spending 500+ dollars on a bike now that I'm an adult. On a related note, I'm coming to terms with the fact that I'm a loser and 500 dollars is only 3 times more than what I've ever spent on a car.
Let that be a lesson to you, kids. If your dad tries to talk you out of going to college because you want a degree in theology, listen to him. Join the military, go to a trade school. Hell, go work at White Castle and become a manager. You'll make a lot more money than what you would going to a private college and majoring in theology.
So, that's pretty much it.
Other hobbies include shooting boomsticks in the woods, playing video games, thinking about the why's in life. I secretly also play Dungeons and Dragons, but I'm not telling anyone that because I don't want any of you to judge me. But chances are, if you made it this far in my introduction post... you already have.
