The weather sprung spring! Finally! So we decided to begin our 33 mile commute tomorrow. Our plan is to throw the tandem on top of the car and drive the 33 miles to University. At the end of the day we take it off the car, attach our YAK BOB trailer, tie all our school work into it and ride home. Then the next day ride back in the morning, and attend the one afternnon class we have on Tuesdays and Thursdays and drive the car home.

We want to do this every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Friday is rest day.

That's 132 miles a week not counting weekend rides. Great to see Spring finally has sprung!

But isn't 33 miles on a tandem like riding 16.5 miles by yourself? So you should be able to do that every day, both ways, and forget the car.

Impeccable logic, don't even think about trying to argue!

Rick, It depends where you sit, if you're in the back you can take it easy and no one is the wiser:D

The wonderful thing about commuting all winter is that when days like today happen, the commute is like a vacation. As I arrived downtown it was 69F, partly sunny, with a nice little breeze blowing from somewhere behind me.

The less wonderful part is having to stop riding and go in to work.

After a windy week on leave my first commute in was nigh on perfect, which almost made up for heading back to work (okay helped a little ;) ).

I love my commutes, it is the inbetween bit that's the problem...

Yeah you're right, and the miles are even less during the downhill sections. Notice I'm not mentioning the uphill effort? :(

But everybody knows that tandems don't slow down when climbing hills. I ought to know, having been dropped by so many!

Well, our first commute is behind us. 33 miles of headwinds! Can we pick 'em or what?! I'm absolutley bushed! Those last three miles had my legs burning so hot! Good saddle time, but I'm spent!

Doing it again Wednseday! Hope the winds change direction...:p

Apart from being only partly sunny, where I live every winter day is like that.

Third day out on the commute today. Since I didn't have class until 1300 and my better half had one at 1000, I rode it today on my single and in the opposite direction. Was a great ride. A little head windy, but all that did was slow me down a bit. 33 miles into the wind with some good hills I managed to average 16.5 mph comfy enough.

The season is here! Yipppeee!
