Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - Hit by a car this morning

I'm OK, no thanks to the driver, who ran a stop sign in her rush to, well, wherever 20 year old women have to go. I have no idea why my bike and I are undamaged...details are in this thread in 50+:

glad you ok bro, just make sure all is alright as adrenaline, shock, and anger can mask injuries. tomorrow you may find a few sore spots.

now the driver, stuff happens and accidents happen for many various reasons. its how people handle it after it happens. way bogus that she took off like that. what i would do is take a drive back to the complex to see if you can find the car, once found call the cops. or channel your inner michael douglas in falling down and go ape s**t on her car.

Wow, glad you are ok Craig, you were very fortunate. The very same thing happened to a rider in my group just recently, he was not so lucky and suffered a broken femur that required more than 4 hours of surgery to repair and completely destroyed his bike.

Yes, anytime you can walk away, it's a good day. I was hit a little over a year ago, due to driver negligence. Luckily, a police officer was across the street writing a ticket when it happened. It cost me a new helmet & the bike had $600 damage. The insurance company wrote me a check with no questions. I felt fine at first, but was sore for a few days.

Is that like some kind of slippery goo?

Glad to hear you're alright OP. I'm convinced when you go down you should just not say anything for at least a few minutes. I think it takes that long for your brain to make sure the body works.

I think the natural human tendency is to say you are OK after an accident even if you are not. A person I knew fell down the basement stairs. The first thing he said was "I'm OK." He broke a few ribs and hurt for a long time afterwards. Maybe OK is shorthand for "I'm ALIVE!!!!!"

Something similar to me happened in Ireland: was crossing a very narrow side street (on foot) with the pedestrian light, when a small sedan came from behind and tried to go right--essentially "right-hooking" the pedestrian. Fortunately, he was traveling slowly, I saw him coming, and I literally jumped up onto his hood. Landed on my left hip/shoulder, rolled to my right, came up standing next to his r-hand driver's-side door as he slammed on the brakes.

First words out of my mouth to the driver, as he gaped at me out his open window, were "are you all right?"

When stuff like that happens to me, I tend to get really gun-shy about riding. I get over that gut-level fear a lot faster, if I face it right away. I prefer to go riding the same or next day, if possible.

If I wait a few days, it tends to build-up, and getting started is a lot harder, and the first few rides not as enjoyable.
