I was out riding this morning, and I realized that aside from a couple days of extreme weather, the South really does have great winter cycling. Then I realized how glad I was that I wasn't in Chicago, or Alaska! Ha! :D

I have to challenge your fine weather. Personally, I enjoy winter cycling more than summer cycling...the cool, fresh air...the frozen beard. But what I can stand is riding in 90 degree temps with the hot, humid air burning my skin. Even though I spent 5 years in the South, I will take a frosty winter morning any day of the year. With proper clothing choices and a set of studded tires, it takes a lot to stop us ice bikers.

Then there's Colorado...In the winter it is possible to go on a nice ride in Denver in non-freezing temps and the bright sunshine (over 300 days of sunshine per year) on one day, and then on the next day hit a powder day in the mountains. Or like this weekend...yesterday was snowy, wet, and crappy....today, the sun is shining brightly and the roads are dry already....I'm going riding.

I agree. Give me a 9F ride over a 90F/90% humidity ride any day. I pity the southern rider who has to endure that heat without ever knowing the joy of riding through a forest over fresh powder.

I wouldnt go as far as 9 degree weather over 90 but sure as heck will take a 25 to 30 degree over that hot humid stuff.

I was just kidding with my original post. I'm originally from Ohio and have acclimated to Tennessee okay, but I would still rather it be very cold than very hot. I remember riding my bike to school in a t-shirt with snow on the ground, so I couldn't have minded the cold that much!

I like Icelandic weather just the way it is :) Not too cold and not too hot. Just around freezing in the winter which is just perfect :p I like both summer and winter :)

And you can always dress for the cold (well, at least the "cold" we get in Ohio), but there's only so much you can take off when it's warm before the police start getting annoyed.

Heheheh.. probably another form of the work "****e". And I agree, give me cold over heat any day. There's only so much clothing you can shed to be comfortable, but you can always put another layer on if you're too cold.. ;)
