Living Car Free - Want a lifetime transit pass? Just give up your car!

I think this idea is too good to be true! In Spain, they offer a lifetime transit pass for those that give in their car. Incredible. I wish we had something like this. Heck, I would buy a 500.00 dollar junker for a lifetime pass.

Even I would do that. I'm selling my truck soon anyway. We have lousy public transit and I'm not doing this for financial reasons, but still.... NEAT! Sign me up!

I was thinking this type of pass would be limited to trolleys because of the high cost of subways and commuter rail would make it impossible in large cities. For a small town, it makes perfectly good sense.

I think this would work in DC. The traffic here is terrible. I have a car rotting in my driveway that I haven't touched in nearly a year. DO it DC!!!

The obvious dificulty in monitoring lifetime compliance makes me think this is just a short term marketing ploy but welcome none the less.

Here in Ireland once you reach 66 you can travel on buses and trains off-peak for free. It's been this way for a long time now. In fact it was 65 till they increased the retirement age.

How would they regulate that ? after all, you could just put 2 cars in your wife's name or friends name. Im all for it though, i live in one of the best cities for public trans,,,Chicago. sign me up.
