I made a post a couple weeks ago when joining this site asking a few questions about taking a bike on the SI ferry. Thanks for all the help. Made my trip a lot easier! Everything went well. Wanted to share my story with all of you.
I left VA on Friday morning. Arrived at the Ferry about 1:30. The first day I just chose to walk the streets of Manhattan. Saturday though I did the summer streets. Arrived in Manhattan at 9:30 a.m. I started at the Brooklyn Bridge and went all the way up to the end at Central Park. The decided to go back the other way and ended about 12 pm. I got some pizza at a pizza restaurant. Then decided to make my way to the west side path. From there I went all the way up to around 200th street area? I can't remember exactly what it was but I saw the exit sign for Dyckham Street. I didn't see a way of getting over the high way so went back to where I could which was around 181st street. I went from there to Central Park, then through some of Central Park onto the East side. I went over hoping to find a East Side bike path but really didn't see anything. So I had to just go along streets down there. It was enjoyable though.
On Sunday, the rain ruined a lot of my day but I got so tired of walking in the rain I went back to the ferry about 6:30 and got my bike to finish the night biking. Got back to Manhattan at 7:30 and would end up going over the Brooklyn Bridge. Unfortunately it started pouring that night! I was trying to explore the most I could. I went through China Town, SOHO, Tribeca. Greenwich Village, and took 7th ave all the way down to Church street back to the ferry. I was completely SOAKED!
Really wish it had been a nice night because I really wanted to ride around more. But here are some picture if anybody is interested.
