Bicycle Mechanics - please help with bumpy bicycle!

ive searched the entire internet and sheldons site for help. i got a flat on both tires the other week after hitting a rock going like 14 mph. i got home, changed the tubes and went back out. i noticed a few minutes into the ride that it was bumpy, like i was hitting a small ditch every rotation or so. so i checked everything and it looked good. my tires were pretty bad in one spot and i thought it was allowing the tube to hit rim and cause the bump. but my brand new tires are doing the same thing and i still have a horrible bump every time even on a completely flat road. i have tried seating the tube, spraying window cleaner around the edge to seat it better, etc and nothing is helping. is that what is causing my ride to be so bumpy. please help because i have my first triathlon in 3 weeks and i need this fixed asap. i was hoping the new tires would fix it but they didnt. thank you very much!

This really needs a photo of your wheels, but sounds like you have dented / flat spotted the rims. would suggest going to a good LBS, and getting them to see if they can be fixed, but would be prepared to buy new wheels / rims if too badly dented

i looked at the rims already and they are perfectly straight. the bike tire needs seated correctly. i am just having a hard time doing this because this is the first time i changed the tire/tubes on this bike. its a lot harder than my other bike because the tires are smaller and tighter. i will get pics once i find the camera.

Have someone hold up the front wheel and give it a spin. You can then see if there is an obvious problem. Then do the same with the rear. Let us know how you make out.

Your beads are not seated correctly. Inflate the tire to say, 30lbs. Inspect the tire on the rim. Look for low spots where the tire seems to be sunken in. With your thumbs (while grasping the rim& tire) push the sidewall of the effected area in towards the middle of the rim and out towards the edge (outer circumference). You should see the rest of the side wall expose itself. Check the rest if the tire. Inflate to your PSI & try it out.

yes the tire is seated wrong, the safety line or whatever is in the rim and out on the other sides. i have tried everything to pull it out further but i just do not know how. can you explain it better?

You need to go back to your bike shop, and you need to become really good friends with them. You are unable to do repairs. Got that? Un-able.

Tell them you want to watch them fix the problem. And pay attention. If it is something simple, hopefully they will not charge you. But if something is broken or damaged, they will have to fix it, and you will have to pay.

You have no choice.

And again, for those of you who are wanting to help, please be aware that several threads on this topic were already posted. Starting about 2 weeks ago. Whatever this "bump" problem is, it existed before the tires were replaced.
