General Cycling Discussion - Any Manufacturer's Rep's Out There?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I was curious if there are any manufacturer's reps lurking about.
I know there are a lot of shop employees here and there, but have never read anything from any reps.
I need to ask a question and didn't know if any were around!

Some reps are better than others. Two examples:
The local bike shop carries 2 brands: Trek and Giant.
The Trek rep was a great guy who was focused on customer service and satisfaction. He would call the bike shop twice a week to see if Craig (the owner) needed anything. And he went the extra mile for Craig's customers. For example, when I needed a touring fork for my Giant hybrid (and Giant couldn't get me one)
the Trek rep got me a Trek fork, minus the Trek decals and painted the color of my choice! Eventually, this guy quit because the job didn't pay enough - which leads me to item #2.
The Giant rep was lousy. He would never call the shop. Anytime Craig needed something he would have spend all day trying to get the guy on the phone. The rep even told Craig he wasn't important because he wasn't a high volume dealer. It got so bad that Craig was going to drop the Giant brand and switch to Raleigh instead. But just before that happened the Giant rep quit - and now works for Trek. These days Craig is getting the same crappy service from Trek that he used to get from Giant.
I'm glad I don't own a bike shop.

I was curious about average salaries for these guys. We've got a rep down here that reps about 10 different companies, and another guy that just handles one! I was curious as to about how much $$$$ these guys made. I was also wondering if it's straight salary or straight commission or the ratio of the combination!
