Bicycle Mechanics - silca pump hose clamp leak

my basically new silca pump has a leak right where the hose mates with the attachment. it's leaking where the metal meats the rubber.

how do i fix it besides buying a new hose assembly. i already tried cutting the end of the hose off to give it some fresh contact. the hose clamp might not be tight enough, but i have no idea.

my hose looks like this. the silver end is where i'm having leaking issues.

get a band type hose clamp and replace the clip style just buy the appropriate size

Is this really SSFG related? Moving to mechanics.

#1 hose clamp, I fitted 2 on my Silca track pump as soon as I got it.. 25 years ago.

New pump, take it back! you shouldn't need to fix a product as soon as you buy it

get a band type hose clamp and replace the clip style just buy the appropriate size

I have the same Silca head and I use this type of hose clamp. Works perfectly. Costs like $0.15.

New pump, take it back! you shouldn't need to fix a product as soon as you buy it

but as a Mechanic, I just saw a simple, easy to do upgrade,
and the pump still is in service ,
probably longer than many of your, young, lives. :rolleyes:

The point is though, that the item was defective when purchased, yes the OP should be able to fix this, but they shouldn't have to, being that the item is new. If it was say a year old, then fixing it yourself would be the prefered option

If the manufacturer's "fix" involves the same type inferior spring clamp, why not skip the hassle and upgrade it now?

"Basically new" means old or used.

For no more than those band clamps cost I'd rather do that and be done than haggle.
