Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - Athena/Clyde Castelli sweater jerseys Rawk!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I went into Belga Fietsen today and saw a small bunch of Castelli merino wool sweaters on clearance for 40% off. I had to have one... walked away with two! It hasn't hit 80 degrees yet here in the Netherlands and sweaters are a must with the rain and wind.
So after seeing some of the clydes show off their jerseys-- I thought I would show of mine :P

I am SO impressed at how these fit around my rear end and yet don't sag and look nasty around my waist. Most men's jerseys just don't fit us Athenas! These are men's 2XL and go up to a 3XL. (I tried on the men's 3XL and it was a little bit too big)
I've also been really happy with AGU plus sizes. I don't know if AGU is available in America. They are the company making the lovely Rabobank team jerseys.

That is a nice looking jersey!
Thanks! I was really impressed with the quality of it. All of the panels are separately woven then sewn together. It's just a lovely, lovely marino wool sweater.

May I say that I like what's in the jersey? I'm just calling it like it is...
Thanks Peter. hehe... that wasn't why I was posting it, but cool :D
Peter isn't the only one to have noticed, just the first to say something. I agree wholeheartedly.
Rona, both Peter_C and CraigB are married. :-)
I'm single, however, and I agree with them.
lol... I'm married too actually. ^_^ My hubbie and I just got married in February and we are finally having our honey moon this week. We're gonna bike around north Holland doing some cyclocamping :)

Congratulations! Are you going to ride over the Afsluitdijk (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Afsluitdijk)?
Nice new avatar, too, btw. Oops...gotta go - my wife's calling. ;)
that dijk looks boring as heck!!!
We're gonna stick to the Groningen region, mostly because we have a giant doggie who we need to check in on and some family stuff. I've lived here a year and still haven't seen that much of it. Should be lots of fun!

I can't agree. It looks like it would be fun to ride across. Also, I can't help but recall historian Barbara Tuchman's essay on "Mankind's Better Moments" where she describes the Dutch battle and victory over the North Sea as an example of man's ingenuity and determination. I'd like to see it someday.

I wasn't 'hitting' on the lady, just stating the facts as I noticed them :)

The Dutch are amazing engineers. My father in law is a retired engineer and worked on the local hospital. To get buildings here to work, the foundations are often two stories deep in the soil. You hit water at two or three meters down so the foundations must be very solid concrete. Personally I love to go to the old medieval city centers and look at the older buildings over the more modern things. I'm also really fond of biking through polders where all the wild life are. Scottish cows are soooo cute. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-u78Znyw3E2c/TWkDuRznmEI/AAAAAAAAA5Q/yT7mR1XmUh4/s1600/hippycow.JPG

Now that's a nice sweater.
They don't happen to have any in men's large, do they?
Do you live in Friesland? I was there in 1984 to visit te Batavus factory in Heerenveen. We were staying near Alkmaar and I got driven over the dike and through the prettiest countyside I saw over there.

They don't happen to have any in men's large, do they? I bought mine from Belga Fietsen, but you can find these on the internet. Do a google search for the "Castelli Mod Sweater" Velogear has them for 149.99 in all sizes, but other stores like Crank2Tandems has it for 89.00

I'm north of that in Groningen provincie. I've only seen a little of Friesland and it looks lovely. Are you ever on the London Fixed Gear boards? there is a guy on there named "Dutch Cheese" who used to work at the Gazelle factory and I bet the two of you could talk some shop! I'm afraid I'm not a big Batavus fan, I'm a Gazelle girl all the way. XD

That is a nice looking jersey!
And a very nice looking Athena inside, not to be too forward. :D
I was there to inspect their professional line for a distributer here in the states that was considering importing them. I submitted an order for 25 frames and spec'ed our one for myself. I still have it.
