First time posting in this forum and hoping we can get the same great advice we get in the road forum. Hubby is doing an ironman next year and initially was going to use his road bike but now wants a tri specific bike. Talking with his "ride buddies and local triathletes" he has narrowed it down to a few he wants (of course size is ALWAYS an issue with him so most of the time he has to test ride stuff smaller before he drops the money). Wondering if anyone on here rides or has ridden the following bikes:

Fuji D6 Pro
Kestrel 4000 Pro
Cervelo P2/P3

Right now he is leaning toward the Cervelo as that is what his buddies ride but we can't find anyone local that carries the Fuji or Kestrel... we have a budget of $4500. Thank you in advance :thumb:

PS... hubby is too lazy to come on here and poke around (go figure considering he wants to do an ironman... haha)

Go check out slowtwitch.com

They will tell you to have your hubby get a F.I.S.T. That will give him all of the information he will need to find the bike that will fit him like a glove. If you are spending that much money, and doing an IM, a fit must be part of your purchase.

After saying all that, I like the cervelo. Don't forget wheels either!

Thanks for the reply hyper... I sent my husband a text about this "FIST" you mentioned and he has never heard of it. We will be checking it out. I did hear today that a tri bike is a lot more specific when it comes to fitting and one needs to be very careful to get one that fits. Thanks for the advice.

You're welcome. A fit for a tri bike is the first thing in the process. Switching to a tri bike is a different ride too, so make sure he gets some saddle time in before the race so he is used to putting down power in the aero position. His legs will feel much better going into the run too, I know mine did!
