I was given a bike and I needed to change the right gripshifter because it wasn't compatible to the shimano derailleur I bought..

The stock shifters were GRIPSHIFT 3.0 by Sram I believe

3 1
2 2
1 3
. 4
. 5
. 6
. 7

But I needed a new grip shifter so then I bought Sram MRX Comp for the 7 speed

But now the numbers are not i guess...properly...labeled or something.. I'm not too sure what happeend This is the labeling now

3 7
2 6
1 5
. 4
. 3
. 2
. 1

How do I fix this. Matter fact, why is it changed now, why is 7 on top.. and not at the bottom like many other bikes

If it works, does the order of the numbers matter? It might take a bit getting used to, as you now have to twist in opposite direction compared to your old shifter, but still?

grip shifters are available in either configuration. If you don't like the setup you purchased, you may be able to exchange it for the shifter you want.

or as a previous poster stated, try using it for a while and see if you can get used to it.
