Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - How much to expect for Origin 8 Uno?

First of all... hello, I'm new to bikeforums. I have been big time lurking for a little while now, and now I'm need of some advice...

I bought a very lightly used (great condition, almost new) Origin-8 Uno about a month and a half ago, in a decision between it and an older converted fixed gear... I obviously picked the Uno over the conversion. I sorta regret that now, and so I'm looking at a vintage bike to convert to a fixed gear.

I found an 83 Fuji Supreme on craigslist for $60, and I'll obviously need to do a little work on it but it's in great shape overall. Probably just replace the hub and drivetrain and call it a day. Now I've got "the itch" ... I want it bad, but I would have to sell my Origin-8 Uno in place of it.

What could I expect to get from Craigslist for it? Like I said, it's in great shape...

I've seen a lot of entry level fixed bikes and conversions going for $200-300 in Seattle lately.

Curious, what do you expect you'll like more about a Fuji Conversion?

I'd be totally satisfied with $2-300. That's about what I was thinking.

...Well, the Origin-8 just has this mass-produced feel to it... it's hard to explain. I can't really afford a super nice handmade bike, so I'm thinking that by trading it for an older bike that I can fix up myself I would be able to make it truly mine... put it together myself and take care of every detail of the bike.

I also love the look of 1" tubes and the lugs... for some reason it just looks clean and the lugs are a great detail. And I've heard that Fuji made good bikes back then, and I just don't get the same feeling of long-lasting quality from the Origin-8.

vuarnet you're totally right. sell that junk and wrench yourself a nice vintage ride. that's what I do all the time.
