Hybrid Bicycles - Bikes around town (not your bike)

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Here's one I see around town all the time. Last year dad drove the kids around in the trailer, but this summer they've added a trailabike.

I like that giant. It's a great mix and match job of parts, tyres and components, living happily together.

Messenger bikes. I love the Switchblades, but rigid forks on a suspension frame?
Eco is just passing through. Only mail trucks stop there in the middle of the road. One way single lane road. 2121 Ward Place, the "Duke Ellington Building". Located on the site of the house where Duke Ellington was born. It's a USPS facility now. Mixed use actually but mostly USPS.
Rails to Trails (http://www.railstotrails.org/index.html) is also located there.

Should flip those drop bars around and get more aero. Also could use a 16 inch wheel, aka tail rotor, on the upper frame to create more stability. :)

I saw him once before. He was gracefully dismounting on K at a red light. I had the green on 6th and was claiming space in the left lane in front of a tour bus in preparation for turning left on K. The tall bike rider shouted "F*** YOU BUDDY" at the bus driver. I thought that was really cool and it gave me a big boost for the rest of the day.

BTW, I think the mustache adds character.
Many will run a cable through their wheels, in addition to a U-lock securing frame to stanchion. In this case, an additional 3 pound lock to secure a rusty (non-quick release) wheel? I noticed the locks, but didn't think about how unnecessary the second one is here. You could put that wheel on the street with a "FREE" sign on it, and I doubt anyone would touch it.
The mustache is a cute touch but I think it's been installed upside down.

Groovy man...
I've seen one crank drive (edit: shaft drive) (coincidently on Vermont. Ave. a block from the highly secured rusty bike). The rider lived on a boat and bought crank drive bikes for himself and wife because he thought they would fare better at sea. He was not happy with the crank (edit: shaft) drive. I think it was a Thursday, he must have been going to the Farmers Market. The "No Parking on Thursdays" sign is there because a Farmer's Market occupies that block on Thursdays in season. Michelle Obama was behind the conception of the market, a few blocks from the White House, to promote eating healthy locally grown fresh food. Sorry for talking so much in the no talk thread, I'll delete this post after everyone has wasted a tiny part of their lives reading it. :)

I like how they are customized. Toeclips and a narrow saddle for officer 5012 whereas officer 5009 prefers a 'comfort' saddle and bare platforms. The angle on the shifters/brakes looks very uncomfortable though.

I believe it is the sort of bike that Public replicates. The lock is not something widely available in USA therefore I guess the bike maybe a real euro bike.

Saw this bike with 26 x 4.00 tires at a shop in Golden, CO. Compare it with the 27 x 1.25 next to it. Oddly, the wide tire bike was called a "Spider", and had a spider design tread pattern.

The bikes at my school... The Marin roadie is my friend Doni's. The Trek MTB (black) is my friend Jeremy's. The Trek 7.2fx (red) is my teacher's. The blue bike is MINE!
It's great that the racks are half filled up (could fit two bikes to a rack)! It means that a lot of people are riding. My teacher doesn't ride his bike to school every day, but me, Jeremy and Doni ride to school every day. Tomorrow, I will get a better picture of my friend's MTB and the Marin roadie. It is unlikely that my teacher will ride his 7.2fx to school tomorrow.

They were selling those here in Kyoto Puma and the whole frame was a green colour that glowed at night. The idea was that it's supposed to be folded and the cable used as the lock cable. the problem is if some ba5tard cuts your cable the bike is unrideable. Looked cool though.

In the olden days when I was at school, most students rode to school. No locks and our bikes didn't get stolen neither. ahhhh, the olden days.
