Northeast - North Fork Bike Ride POSTPONED

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Apparently the Southold town police decided to pull the plug (http://campaign.r20.constantcontact.com/render?llr=wghmzecab&v=00186bjBp797gv9gFB6hirQEePlbtmR406vJ1hCfVZ5-tONRoB0D47_yz24PssB4aJvdidppA5zrm3pmHEM622q4s1vKbKibL9mRKQoUgV7fLCiiVjDW8BF4A2EM0s_bhy_qB8kiSxtEfSnP 2SdycnlQ79OLfZai2Xu3pk8FT1xU1icmjvTxNsM1gkjz71M9tKRb5LIYwIIVrIVS5i8BLbEp-b4oi3cN78si6o-Y8QxzVICUf4NUnehfXYIm-3__C1o0AwOyqw5aAM%3D) due to Hurricane Irene
They may re-schedule for Sat Sept 10. I can't make that date so I'm selling my entries cheap... and yes, they are transferable.

I heard not returning money to those who cannot make it
From what I saw Glenn just isn't returning money at all. Those who registered for the Northfork Century can get a $30 credit toward another ride. Those who registered for the Night Ride get a credit for the full amount. Considering these rides are $100+ his "no refund" policy really sucks.
So I guess this means I won't be plunking down any money on his rides in the future.

I'm not mad at him nor do I blame him. He does make it clear that there are no refunds and I'm sure he did lay out a huge amount of cash for things that he couldn't get refunds on, it definately puts him in a bad situation. I suspect lots of people will feel like you and not do his rides again which hurts him. conversely, he refunds money that he doesn't have and that hurts him too. Puts him in a tough spot.
Not to beat a dead horse but... when I read about no refunds I tend to think that applies when a rider, for whatever reason, later decides not to participate. It never occurred to me that there would be no refunds if the organizer failed to produce the ride... just saying.

I understand what you are saying and if he just cancelled the ride for no reason, that would be one thing. the ride was cancelled because of a hurricane. here in nyc, we lucked out, barely anything happened. a lot of surrounding areas are still a mess from the hurricane. there was nothing he could do. I give him a lot of credit for offering up a very solid and fair explanation of the situation. he also brought up a good point which was if you want insurance from the weather, you can register the day of. it costs more but hey, you can guarantee you ride in good weather!

I have done several of his rides and this decision plus bad experiences on other rides results in me never doing another Glenn ride
they are not supported well, always have a street marking issue and are run like a joke
Gold Coast Ride, Mansion Ride are some rides that are run much better
