I am picking up a bike in Olympia soon. I ride (north) to Centralia and back a lot, but have never ridden between Centralia and Olympia.
Any suggestions for a good route?
Are the Chehalis Western and Yelm Tenino Trails paved their whole lengths?
The Old 99 overpass at I-5 is under construction . . . would rather avoid that.

There's a small stretch of the Chehalis Western trail thats unpaved near Tumwater. Its only about 100 yards long though.
You could take Little Rock Road to Sergeant Rd which would lead you pretty close to the west side of I5 at Grand Mound. From there just take Old 99.

Hey! You're in my neighborhood!
I'm out in Oakville, and ride in this area, as well as the trail to Oly and Yelm.
I find the last stretch of the Bucoda Highway (N. Pearl St.) just out of Centralia to be dangerous. No shoulders, fast traffic, a few sharp turns.
I've ridden all of this before. So here's my $.02...

I might have to try that route next time I head up. I usually just take I-5 the whole way to Tumwater just so I don't have to bring a map.
That's all different now that I have a fancy phone with map powers.

its longer, but i like to mud bay, delphi, waddell road past mima mounds, moon road, the 12 to old 99.
i find its quite scenic, light traffic most of the way. don't know about the other routes too well.

I can also confer, living in the Tenino area, that this is the easiest way to get from Centralia to downtown Olympia.
The Chehalis Western will dump you in Lacey, and you will have to backtrack. Currently Yelm Highway is also under construction as well, so its not advisable to ride through there if you can at all avoid it.
And depending on your fitness level, this is one of the flattest routes to take in and out.

The Woodland intersects the CW in Lacey and goes both ways. Take a left into Olympia.
