So, after waiting all week to find out when I can pick up my bike (LBS advised that there was a temporary stop/sale on my 2011 Vita), I learned today that the fork is recalled. The recall impacts a number of 2011 Specialized Bikes. Specialized has advised not to ride the bikes and to contact LBS with further questions.

My LBS is awaiting a replacement fork. This bike will be my first purchase since 1989 (Panasonic Mountain Cat Mtb holding strong!) I'm wondering whether I should go through with the purchase.

I'm getting the 2011 Comp model at the same price as the 2012 Elite or lower model. Price is great! I just can't spring for the comparable 2012 model. I think I should hold onto it, but my knees are beginning to knock.

What do you guys think? Thoughts appreciated. Thanks.

I have the Sirrus Elite. (I am still waiting to find out if the recall affects mine). I love the bike. It has been a real pleasure to ride it.

The recall impacts 2011 models. Another biking forum listed the following models but I'd check with LBS to make sure.

About the 2011 comp. get the comp. I spoke with a couple specialized sales people and none of them were convinced that this year's model was a marked improvement (though they're prettier). The price hike is more about the rising cost of making the bikes than the quality. It's great you found a 2011 comp! Snag it! :)
