I have an Easton Monkey Lite Bar on my Stumpjumper that has a couple of scratches on the top. These are just surface scratches, but how does one know when the bar is no longer safe. I would hate to be barrelling down hill and have half the bar in my hand not attached. Could be real ugly...

If they are bent, dented, you crashed in a way that stressed the bars or you just feel uneasy about them for some reason, I'd be safe and replace them.

Those are carbon fiber, not aluminum.

If the scratches are just surface scratches I wouldn't be too concerned. Especially with Easton products. If the scratch is more of a gouge and you can see fibers, you can coat it with some epoxy resin. This is done regulary in aircraft to repair helicopter blades.

Easton's Carbon bars are stronger than most companies aluminum bars!
