Similar to Stage 5. Can Purito do it again?

Another great win from Purito. I don't know why Poels went on the attack when he did (in between 10km and 5km to go). He was the only one who was even close on Stage 5 and it seems like he should have just stuck on Rodriguez's wheel and tried again.
Meanwhile, Rodriguez did a good job to gain time on Stages 5 & 8, but that time Nibali gained on Stage 6 could come back to haunt him. Nibali is only 45 seconds back right now and he should get that back in the TT without much difficulty.

Even without losing those 17 seconds, Purito wouldn't have stood much of a chance of staying ahead of Nibbles after the ITT. Unless Nibali cracks big time tomorrow- which is unlikely. He may lose some time as he seems to be affected by yesterday's crash (more than Rodriguez and Scarponi) but hard to imagine him losing >2 minutes.
Still if Rodriguez manages to keep it a little closer than last year, it's perfectly possible he'll get the red back. After Monday there are still some tough finishes and he can make up a lot of time on the Angliru alone. I don't think Angliru suits Nibali and like last year he didn't do a reckon, while Rodriguez was 3rd last time it was included (working for Valverde, but he was the last guy on Contador's wheel).
Anyway, great win today. I was also surprised by Poels' move, but even more by Igor Anton finishing 6th. If he's slowly finding his legs, that's another bad news for those who are limited climbers.

That was brutal last km today. Guys just came to a dead stop right after the finish.
Anton just doesn't look like he's got the legs for this Vuelta.

I meant that Anton improved massively compared to how poor he was on stages 4 and 5. Of course at his very best he would have done even better but 6th is a very decent result and a good sign. Tomorrow will tell us more though.
