From Wikipedia:
Polos are a brand of sweets (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sweets) whose defining feature is the hole in the middle. The peppermint (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peppermint) flavoured polo was first manufactured in the United Kingdom (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Kingdom) in 1948 by employee John Bargewell at the Nestle Factory, York, a range of flavours followed. The name ‘Polo’ is reportedly from the word ‘Polar’ and is to symbolise the cool and fresh feeling one gets from sucking a Polo.[ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polo_%28confectionery%29#cite_note-BBC-0)
I believe it's the "mint condition" bit that's the knee-slapper...
