Foo - Japan crisis sponsorship

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I know the tsunami was a big deal but there is a massive crisis in east africa, that would perhaps be more deserving of the forum's support at the moment

these guys don't have the infrastructure or resources of japan and I think a dollar there would make a bit more of a difference.
and since this is an off-topic thread. with the east african dominance in long distance running and west african decendents in short distance running, why so few (any?) africans on the tour de france? I guess there isn't the infrastructure for youth development in a lot of the native countries, but some sports like the winter sports are really good at taking natural athletes from different disciplines and training them in new disciplines.... anyhoo I'm just wondering

I honestly don't think one crisis is more deserving than another. They are all deserving human beings, aren't they?
Oh and just as a pre emptive type thing, lets keep politics out of Foo please.

Which reminds me, I was going to order one of those jerseys months ago, but now that I'm a paid member I don't see the ad. Can you help me out Siu?

I don't mean to sound insensitive or anything but why don't we concentrate on all the problems in THIS country before we run off and help everyone else, like the poor, hungry, jobless, failing economy, disappearing middle class, etc... Who is going to help us while we are out helping everyone else?

Sam kinison had a good view on this. This is an act from 1985. 26 years ago. Hunger in Africa was a problem. At what point are we going to admit that we have been going about it all wrong for the last 1/4 of a century.
